Riverside California photographer Cheryl Spelts specializes in fresh and modern lifestyle portraits and high school senior portraits.

I’m a photographer and I shoot all over Southern California, but I live in Riverside and I love shooting in my hometown!

My specialty is fresh and modern portraits and I love finding that special spark in my subjects – the thing that makes each client unique and beautiful! I shoot on location all over Riverside County. The downtown Riverside area has lots of great places to shoot – if you want an urban look, there are great old buildings all along University and Mission Inn Drive, right in the heart of downtown. If you want green grass and trees and a lake, then Fairmont Park is the place to start. If you want a more manicured style, then White Park at 9th and Market is a very pretty option. Or if you want California hillsides and bright blue skies, we can head out into the country that surrounds the city. Or, if you have a great backyard, we can start there!

I love beautiful natural light, and as a Riverside photographer I have the best light in the world to work with! The Inland Empire has so many beautiful sunny days – we’re very lucky! To best take advantage of the sun, and get the best light possible, I like to schedule sessions in the hours just before the sun goes down. The hour just before sunset is called the golden hour for a reason – the light then is softer and warmer and beautiful. But I also love the hour before that, when it’s still sunny and bright. My favorite sessions incorporate both kinds of light – a little of both! It’s of course possible to shoot at other times of the day – just ask!
